Our Vision
We believe great ideas shouldn't stay trapped in someone's head just because they don't know where to start or lack the skills to bring them to life.
Need It Made connects people who want something made, designed, or fixed with the makers who can bring those projects to life.
This kind of connection is common in the digital world, but when it comes to physical products, it's rare. At Need It Made, we're changing that.
Our Story
You often hear that “Britain doesn't make things anymore.” That couldn't be further from the truth. The UK is full of makers: skilled craftspeople, hobbyists, small workshops, and innovative companies. Manufacturing here has changed shape. It's no longer just the age of massive factories and industrial giants. Instead, it's a vibrant, distributed network of people with the tools, talent, and passion to create.
The idea for Need It Made grew directly from experience. One of our founders is an engineer who spent nearly 20 years battling to get his own products and ideas manufactured. He saw first-hand the barriers and frustrations that so many people face in trying to turn ideas into reality. Our other founder is a patent attorney who has guided countless inventors and entrepreneurs through the legal and practical challenges of making things. Together, they witnessed both the struggles and the huge potential, and set out to build a platform that makes the process simpler, fairer, and open to everyone.
There are thousands of people across the UK who would love to make your project a reality. You just need a way to find them. That's where Need It Made comes in.
Our Purpose
Need It Made is the first platform designed to truly level the playing field for makers of all kinds, from professional manufacturers to part-time inventors and passionate hobbyists.
Big or small, everyone deserves the chance to work on meaningful projects. Too often, skilled people miss out simply because they don't appear on the first page of Google. With Need It Made, customers can find the right maker, and makers can find the right projects. No barriers, no gatekeepers.
For customers, it means you don't need specialist knowledge, training, or insider contacts to get your idea off the ground. And for many projects, whether it's a prototype, a one-off, or a small batch, you don't need a huge company with big overheads. A talented small business or hobbyist could be exactly who you're looking for.
