Art commissions work differently from the rest of the site, because the brief is a starting point rather than a specification. Say what the piece is for, where it will live, how big it should be and what feeling you are after, then leave the maker room to propose. A budget range genuinely helps here, more than in any other category, because the same idea can be made at very different scales. Expect a design stage before any making starts, and allow two to six months for anything substantial.
