How it works

How payment protection works

Why it is safe to pay through the site, and how funds are held.

1 min read

When you pay for a project, your money does not go straight to the Maker. Need It Made holds the funds while your item is being made, and only releases them to the Maker after your item has been delivered.

This protects both sides. You know the Maker will not be paid until you have received what you ordered, and the Maker knows the money is committed before they start work.

If something goes wrong and your item does not match what was agreed, you can raise an issue. Refunds are judged against the specification you both agreed at the point of payment, so it is always worth being clear in your brief and in the chat about exactly what you expect.
